Dream Parties

(San Diego, CA) – Step Up, a program that provides mentors for San Diego Foster Youth and Xtreme Fun, a San Diego-based mobile entertainment company, will host the second annual Youth In Paradise Walk & Festival to be held September 20 from 9am to 2pm at NTC South Promenade at Liberty Station in San Diego.

The event website describes the fundraiser as a means to “increase awareness of the Volunteer Mentor Program, recruit new mentors, and raise funds to support activities and enrichment opportunities for foster children and their mentors.”

Step Up coordinators, Lisa Walker and Bettina Osborne, say the event will give San Diego foster youth the opportunity to come out and enjoy a day of fun and activities they don’t normally get the chance to participate in. It will also showcase NTC and Point Loma businesses that have given their support; local vendors have agreed to give away free food and activities to all San Diego foster youth.

Xtreme Fun President, Scot Feld, who has put his DJ/MC party talents to work with the SD Padres, Phoenix Suns, the Jonas Brothers and other notable groups, will provide music, sports games, relays, obstacle courses and water play for the fundraiser.
“We will be supplying the atmosphere for what promises to be an exciting, fun filled day for a great cause,” says Feld.

Besides the entertainment provided by Xtreme Fun, participants will be able to enjoy a self-paced walk around the beautiful promenade, opportunity drawings, Harley Davidson rides, arts, crafts, food and more.

Step Up would like to thank the sponsors who assisted in making the event possible including The Rock Church, Xtreme Fun, Arbonne, Awesome Artist Ceramic Studio, Big Chill Yogurt, Clayton’s Coffee Shop of Coronado, Chic-Fil-A, Grins To Go, Harley Davidson of Sweetwater, Ne-Mo’s, Honest Tea, Jamba Juice, Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza, San Diego Danceworks, San Diego Gymnastics, Starbucks and Trader Joe’s.

Community members wishing to participate in the fundraiser walk can download a registration form off of the website www.youthinparadise.com. Registration fees at the event will be $25 for adults and $10 for children 3 years to 12 years of age. Kids under three years and foster youth may attend for free.

For more information on the event, contact Lisa Walker at (619) 757-9599 or Bettina Osborne at (619) 884-7474.
